Sixth and twelfth place are the results of the Promoracing riders in the penultimate round of the Moto2 European Championship held today in Jerez. Eric Granado finished sixth and Xavi Cardelús was finally placed in twelfth position.
Granado has lost five positions at the start of the race and after a good recovering his pace was the same of the race leaders, but the distance that has lost in the beginning of the race, kept him far from the podium.
Meanwhile, Cardelús has recovered five positions in the opening stages of the race. He started 17th and this circumstance has prevented him to achieve a better result.
Raul Jara (Team Manager): “We leave Jerez with some bittersweet taste because just the details have prevented us to achieve better results. In the case of Eric and after a good job during practices both him and the team, the start was crucial today because he has lost some time that has been very important to keep him out of the podium positions despite his pace has been the same that the race leaders. Xavi has today taken a step forward, but the start from the back of the grid has caused that the reward for his comeback has not been greater. “
Eric Granado (6th): “The start of the race has been the main cause of my result. I have dropped to ninth place after the start. Then I was doing the same pace as the front runers, but it was too late. I feel bad because the team has done a great job. Our evolution has been good and my lap times in the warm-up were good. I have to work on the issue of the starts because today it has been the key. “
Xavi Cardelús (12th): “I made a good start and was able to retrieve five positions in the early laps of the race. From that moment I have been fighting in a group for ninth place. We exchanged positions and at the end I finished twelfth. If it had achieved a better result in qualifying, I’m sure that my race result would have been better today. “
The last race of the Moto2 European Championship will be held at the Ricardo Tormo circuit in Valencia on 20 November.
